The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Computerized Telescope offers reasonable “Go-To” tracking technology to this compact, light weight and portable Newtonian reflector telescope. By using mirrors instead of lenses, the Newtonian optics produces an image almost 5 times brighter than a comparable refractor telescope. However, although reflector telescopes gather more light, the mirrors may need to be collimated or aligned occasionally. You can easily tune the optical alignment using Celestron’s Collimation Eyepiece. This telescope needs no tools for setup and comes with two eyepieces: 9mm which offers 72x magnification, and a 25mm which magnifies images about 26 times. It also includes a student version of “The Sky” planetarium software. Using Celestron’s patented SkyAlign technology, all you have to do is enter the date and time and then point the telescope. You will be able to find over 4,000 stars, planets and galaxies with a push of a button. The disadvantage with this or any computerized telescope is the battery consumption. Batteries are not included with this telescope, so when purchasing you may want to consider the optional PowerTank battery.

Average Customer Review is 3.9 out of 5 stars. See all 55+ customer reviews here. Below are what some buyers have said about this particular telescope:
5 Star – “I am extremely happy. For the price, it’s a great scope and the goto software was pretty easy to get the hang of. Buy the AC power cord, otherwise you’ll need new batteries every night. You’ll need to reset the date/time on the goto computer every night. It takes a few tries to get proficient with the three star align. This scope isn’t weighted and is very light. This causes it to shake a LOT when you touch it (i.e. when you’re focusing). It takes a few seconds for it to stabilize after any adjustment.”
4 Star – “I have revisited my review and dropped 1 star after owning this scope for 2 years now. The 1 star drop to 4 stars is due to the azimuth [horizontal] motor acting erratically now. It will slow down as if it is binding somewhere, then speed way up for periods.”
3 Star – “If I could do it all over again, I’d avoid this scope, save up more money and get something larger and not a Reflector style.”
